Planning and designing sustainable and livable urban futures requires different skills and abilities as well as an elaborate methodological toolbox at hand.
In this course, students will get an overview of various tools and methods for gathering, analyzing, assessing and evaluating data and information and of making informed decisions that go hand in hand with the development of a conceptual approach. Moreover, they will learn how to apply these methods and tools in the development of their own projects. In particular, students will develop the ability to analyze the social, build and natural environment with the help of social, spatial and ecological analysis tools and apply them to planning and design tasks embedded in different case studies from around the globe. They will further learn how to perform a systematic stakeholder analysis including how to develop stakeholder profiles and maps as well as how to visualize their roles and relationships.
This course will provide students with an array of methodological skills needed for developing and implementing Integrated Research and Design Projects.
