Russia’s attack on Ukraine has been a horrifying wake-up for Ukrainian architects, urbanists, and planners who were since the Maidan Revolution – despite Russia’s war activities in Donbass since 2014 – strongly engaged in societal reform processes and increasingly – also as professionals – benefiting from its results.
Suddenly, not “architectural competition for comfortable buildings”, “participative co-creation of long-term visions” or “making strategic plans for sustainable development” are on their agendas, but the fight for the future of their country.
In the second episode we will continue the discussion with a more institutional perspective and discuss the following aspects with our guests: Which kind of initiatives are currently going on in Ukraine that relate to spatial development issues? Which activities exist to better connect the network of Ukrainian architects and planners to the European Union? How does training and education of architects and planners work during the war?
