Join us on 12 June, 10h45 in room M11.11 of the K1 building for a guest lecture by Assoc Prof Dr Ilgi Atay Kaya on “Evaluating and Revising Urban Plans to Improve Park Accessibility”.
The Lecture
This presentation is based on research exploring how to assess and revise urban plans to improve park accessibility within walking distance at the neighbourhood scale. With a need-based equity approach, this research deploys a GIS-based location-allocation analysis with a multi-criteria assessment methodology. A redevelopment plan at a 1/1000 scale in one of the park-poor areas of İzmir, Türkiye is evaluated and compared to the current site and the potential plan revision. The results showed that the use of the non-park public areas with the highest demand capacity and their redesign with park-related purposes improves park accessibility in the neighborhood.
