Green, smart & sustainable? Visions for the Cities of Tomorrow.
Panel of the German Protestant Kirchentag in Dortmund 2019
Professor Astrid Ley will be part of the 37th German Protestant Kirchentag in Dortmund 2019. Along with other speakers such as Professor Hartmut Rosa, sociologist and political scientist of the Friedrich-Schiller-University Jena, she will join the panel „Green, smart & sustainable? Visions for the Cities of Tomorrow“. This will be the concluding panel of the „Center Cities and the Environment“, the largest Special Topic of the 2019 Kirchentag in Dortmund.
This panel focuses on digital transformation and the complexity of its interdependent challenges with respect to geography levels – including city and country life, regional, national as well as international aspects –, to main fields of interest – such as ecology, technology strategies, urban planning and design, free-market economy including agriculture – and to the guiding principles underlying decision-making, policy and action in these fields.
Professor Ley will focus on the role of cities in the current global socio-ecological transition and ask if Smart Cities is the future model best suited to meet the challenges.
Moderation: Professor Ursula Stein, urban and regional planner, Frankfurt am Main
Music: Stilbruch, Leipzig
