We warmly welcome you to a lecture by Dr. Nancy Odendaal this Thursday 17 October at 10am.
As planners and urban practitioners are increasingly expected to provide innovative solutions to complex and layered urban problems, they are required to partner with.a diverse range of actors, in order to do so, and engage a range of stakeholders. This goes beyond participation, however. It requires an approach that enhances the experiential learning of students and enables them to gain everyday insights into the plights of urban dwellers. This presentation reflects on a number of initiatives to do so.
Nancy Odendaal is Professor of Urban Studies, in a joint position at the African Centre for Cities, at the University of Cape Town, South Africa and the University of Basel, in Switzerland. She trained as a city planner, and has developed her research profile at the interface of technology, space and urban livelihoods.
