Astrid Ley on Bruno Latour: IZKT interview podcast available now

Astrid Ley has contributed to the podcast series “Autour de Latour – Zukunftsaussichten” (About Latour – Prospects for the future) of the International Center for Cultural and Technological Studies (IZKT) at the University of Stuttgart.

An interview with Bruno Latour (1947-2022), the renowned French philosopher, anthropologist and sociologist, early in 2021 had concluded a podcast series which brought together scientists of the University of Stuttgart, and former guests at IZKT. With the Corona pandemic having further exposed the fragility of civilization, these interviews, initiated and moderated by Dr Felix Heidenreich, have centred on Latour’s “terrestrial manifesto” and its relevance for helping with promoting sustainability. Latour argues that the main challenge at the beginning of the 21st century is for humankind to finally “arrive” or “land” in a truly sustainable way in what he calls a “critical zone” – the thin, endangered zone that is habitable on the planet.
