Astrid Ley contributes to Global South Nexus Seminar at Curtin University

The School of Design and Built Environment at Curtin University, an Australian Global University, organizes a Winter Seminar on Sustainable Transformation in the Global South: „DBE Global South Nexus“.

The three sessions of this conference will focus on how to best implement the Sustainable Development Goals set out by the United Nations in 2016. For this, promoting both an interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary exchange of knowledge and sharing of best practices and experiences between Global North and Global South seems of eminent relevance. Areas include urban planning, architecture, construction management, environmental and disaster management and resilience, as well as urban governance.

Besides Astrid Ley, keynote speakers include Michael Douglas of the University of Hawaii, and scholars of Curtin University. In Session 2, Astrid Ley joins Reena Tiwari and George Curry, both of Curtin University, in a debate on „Localising sustainability Agenda in the Global South“. Her contribution advocates „Activating the SDGs for a people-centered urban transformation“.
