CV Summary

Dipl.-Ing. Raphael Dietz works as a research associate at the Institute of urban planning, University of Stuttgart and as an architect and urban planner at ‘asp’ Architekten GmbH Stuttgart. He studied architecture and urban design at the University of Stuttgart and the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana de Bogotá and worked at planning offices in the UK and Germany, as well as a contract lecturer for the German University of Cairo.

His scientific work deals with transformation processes towards sustainable urban planning and design. Therefore, he is pursuing a transdisciplinary approach in research and teaching. For the research project „Reallabor für nachhaltige Mobilitätskultur / Realworld Laboratory for a Sustainable Mobility Culture“ (funded by the Baden-Württemberg Ministery of Science, Research and Arts) he coordinated the real-world experiments, including the development of participatory and transdisciplinary research and teaching formats, as well as the realization and scientific evaluation of the Real-World-Experiments “Parklets for Stuttgart” and “Stäffele Gallery”. In the BMBF funded research project „WECHSEL“ he was working on the urbanization potentials of the German Energy Transition and the possibility of integrating new energy supply facilities into the urban fabric, exemplarily located at the energy infrastructure areas along the Neckar valley in Stuttgart.
