The SDGs GoGlocal! project (2023-2026) as part of the DAAD SDG partnership programme had its closing event in Namibia from 27th to 30th of April 2026.
The programme included several reflection sessions on the project’s three main pillars: teaching, research and multi-actor engagement. Beyond the teams discussion this was part of the SDG stakeholder dialogue – a full day of Workshop with various representatives from GIZ, municipalities and our civil society partner NHAG (Namibia Housing Action Group). The main question in the room was: how do we move forward with co-producing Namibia’s urban future? How can we support each other and what do we need from each other other?
Two colleagues from South Africa contributed to the event: Dr. Jhono Bennett gave his key note on “Repair as Practice: Towards a Southern Urban Design Approach” and Jason Oberholster not only shared his experiences from the from the Unit for Urban Citizenship at Pretoria University but facilitated part of our SDG stakeholder dialogue.
The event was combined with an exhibition that showcased the Master Thesis Research Group’s outcome of the past three years and gave an overview of the project to the wider public.
We would like to thank everyone who contributed to the event and stay with Prof. Dr. Mohamed Salheen’s words: “Closing, not closed. The project will end this year, but the partnerships will last.”
