IUSD Lecture // Inclusive Urban Development and Community Participation by Abu Muzaffar Mahmud // BRAC Bangladesh

Urbanization is accelerating worldwide, but it’s harsher in underdeveloped countries like Bangladesh. Climate change and economic swings increase low-income urban problems. With minimal services and amenities, municipal officials and inhabitants struggled to find economical living and happiness. Social, political, and economic inclusion are needed for urban growth. Effective planning and development require community engagement to solve challenges. Multistakeholder engagement in decision making may help BRAC’s need-based urban solution. BRAC’s urban development program focuses on disadvantaged people’s development, multidimensional poverty, and inclusive, community-based engagement in urban development.
