TRUE Talents: Atlas of Co-Production out now!

We are pleased to announce that the documentation for the project Transdisciplinary Research in Urban Environments (TRUE), which was conducted within the framework of the University of Stuttgart’s School for Talents, is now available in print.
We would like to thank everyone involved in this project and the sponsors, the German Research Foundation (DFG) as part of the Excellence Strategy of the federal and state governments, for their committement and support of this project.

“The School for Talents has offered our students an incredible opportunity to immerse themselves in transdisciplinary research and learning in an urban environment in the Global South, alongside local partners from civil society and development practice – an exceptionally valuable life experience and an exciting, highly relevant addition beyond everyday university life!” (SI-IU, 2025)

The research compiled in this documentation was conducted in the context of the research project WISER (Well-being in a Sustainable Economy Revisited), which aims to promote productivity growth while also ensuring inclusive well-being and sustainable development. In the course of this research project, the Department of International Urbanism is leading a qualitative study titled “THE ROLE OF QUALITY OF GOVERNANCE: THE LINK BETWEEN CO-PRODUCTION PROCESSES AND WELL-BEING IN INFORMAL SETTLEMENT COMMUNITIES” in an informal settlement in Cape Town, South Africa, where we work in close cooperation with our local partners, the non-profit organization Violence Protection through Urban Upgrading (VPUU). The research has received funding from the European Commission under the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme (Grant agreement No. 101094546).
